Studio Stockholm was commissioned in 2022 to remodel the premises of Hästskopalatset for a new tenant’s long-term relocation. The move marked a strategic repositioning of the tenant’s Stockholm office and its workplace environment. Located on Regeringsgatan, the project required aligning global organisational requirements with local identity and the architectural character of Hästskopalatset. Engaged at an early stage, Studio Stockholm supported the process across strategy, design and stakeholder coordination. The new office was developed to accommodate a fully project-based organisational model, demanding a spatial logic distinct from a conventional office, with high requirements for material quality, adaptability and long-term performance within an existing building.
Challenge
● Translating a project-based work model into a clear spatial structure that supports collaboration and multifunctional team rooms without conventional internal meeting rooms.
● Balancing global brand requirements with local stakeholder needs across a multi-level organisational structure.
● Creating a workplace capable of continuous change within an existing building, without sacrificing material quality or spatial coherence.
Process
● Led the early project phase, shaping key architectural, technical and qualitative parameters from the outset.
● Developed a flexible architectural system using custom made modular interior wall elements designed for ongoing reconfiguration and reuse.
● Elevated the interior environment through comprehensive redesign of lighting, ceilings and internal connections, establishing a consistent architectural baseline.
Result
● A robust and future-proof workplace environment designed to support everyday operations while accommodating change over time.
● A material-led interior that reflects the building’s architectural qualities, extending travertine and teak from façade to interior.
● Client-facing environments with discreetly integrated technology, acoustics and lighting that support both in-person and digital meetings in a consistent, professional setting.
