Open House – Kakelhuset
Join us during Open House Stockholm on October 3, 9:00 AM for a guided tour of Kakelhuset with Vanna Gunnarsson, Studio Stockholm Arkitektur and Kenneth Öberg, AMF Fastigheter AB. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the story behind the transformation of this postmodern building. Perched on the waterfront in Marievik, Kakelhuset (the Tile House) is a striking example of 1980s postmodern architecture. As concept architects, Studio Stockholm was tasked with redefining the building’s identity while respecting its original architecture. Inspired by a dream of the 1980s, the transformation enhances Kakelhuset’s distinctive character through bold colors, rounded forms, larger windows, and a revitalized atrium that brings in natural light. The ground floor has been opened up with restaurants and community spaces, creating a warm, playful, and inviting workplace.
